bonjour - welcome - chatons dispo chez des amis - babys by friend from the cattery

What your cat needs and why:

Protein: obtained from meat, liver, fish eggs, brewer’s yeast (amino acids: lysine, arginine, methionine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, threonine, histidine, tryptophane, phenylamine and taurine.  A taurine deficiency can cause blindness, olfactory malfunctions or heart problems).
Important for growth, glossy fur, strong muscles and tissue renewal.

Fat: found in animal and vegetable fats (essential fatty acids).
Function: Resistance against diseases.

Carbohydrates: obtained from grains, rice, beets, etc.
Essential for normal muscular activity.

Vitamins: sources – liver, brewer’s yeast, spinach and vegetables.
Essential for good eyesight and reproduction.

Minerals: found in meat, fish and green vegetables.
Essential for cell renewal.

Water: in water and vegetables.
Vital for the entire organism.

There has been much improvement in mass produced cat food.  High quality or premium dry cat food contains all the nutrition that your cat needs.  Feeding time is easy – just follow the instructions on the package and adapt the portion according to your cat, so that its weight gain remains stable (i.e. reduce/increase the quantity if your animal tends to gain/lose weight).  Note that a Coon may still be a “kitten” at one year old, or even older (for example, a pregnant female).  It then attains adulthood and seniorhood after about 10 years.  Your vet would be able to advise you on this.
